Academic Professional

The Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University anticipates hiring an Academic Professional July 1, 2008.  Duties will include maintenance of specialized instrumentation for upper level laboratory courses (chromatography, quantitative analysis, spectroscopy, advanced synthesis) including applicable software applications.  Preparation of standards and solutions.  Training and supervision of student and graduate assistants.  Instruction of upper level lecture and laboratory courses, not to exceed 50% of total effort.  PhD in biophysical chemistry or related field required.  College level teaching experience and knowledge of instrumentation preferred.

2 Visiting Lecturer Positions

The Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University anticipates 2 Visiting Lecturer positions for the academic year 2008 - 2009 (effective Aug.2008).  PhD required.  Instruction of core chemistry lecture and lab courses.  College level teaching experience preferred.

Postdoctoral Position in Computational Molecular Biophysics

The research will involve the study of biomolecular interactions and signaling mechanisms, application of molecular dynamics simulations to proteins and nucleic acids, and the application and development of advanced simulation methods.

Applicants should have a strong background in the application of statistical mechanics and computer simulations to biological systems.  A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biophysics or a related field, and experience in molecular dynamics simulation, programming, and Linux (or related operating systems) are required.
